The Asthma and Anaphylaxis course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to recognise treat and manage a severe life threatening allergic reaction, anaphylaxis.

Course in the Management of Asthma Risks and Emergencies in the Workplace 22556VIC

This course covers the knowledge and skills to recognise the clinical signs of asthma and how you can identify and respond to an asthma emergency.

Course Content

The First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis will cover;
•   Regulations and definitions of allergies and anaphylaxis
•   Common Allergy Triggers
•   Signs and Symptoms
•   Risk minimisation
•   The administration of Adrenaline Auto injectors (EpiPen)
•   Anaphylaxis first aid

The Emergency Management of Asthma risks Course will cover;
•  The symptoms and triggers of an Asthma Attack
•  The different classes of Asthma Medication
•  The devices used to administer Asthma Medication
•  How to deliver First Aid Asthma

Course Duration

2 – 3 Hours

Entry Requirements

Participants must be 14 years or older. There are no qualification pre-requisites for this course. Participants are required to use a placebo puffer with a disposable spacer on another person, it cannot be used on a manikin. Participants are required to us a placebo puffer with a disposable spacer on themselves. It cannot be used on a manikin.

Assessment

Safetywave Trainers have a hands-on approach to training with progressive assessments throughout the course. Assessments undertaken may include: written/oral assessments, practical demonstrations, completion of case studies and scenarios.

Participants will have the opportunity to practice using the equipment used to deliver treatment for Asthma symptoms and Anaphylaxis. These include Asthma Puffers, spacers, and Adrenaline auto-injectors (EpiPen)

Competency

On successful completion the participant will receive a certificate of statement of attainment:
